Wooden fence along an overgrown field

Spartan Land Works

Fence Row Clearing

Grown-up fence lines cleaned out so you can see the fence, fix it, replace it or build new. From someone who built fence for a living.

Fence lines are where brush wins first

The mower can't get right up against the fence, birds sit on the wire and drop seeds, and before long there's a row of cedars, privet and briars growing through it. Within a few years the fence is holding up the trees instead of the other way around.

Spartan Land Works clears fence rows with a track loader and brush cutter, working along the line to open up both sides. We've built a lot of fence ourselves, so we know what a fence crew needs to be able to work, and we're careful around wire you want to keep.

Fence row clearing for

  • New fence: a clean path along the property line so the fence can go up straight
  • Fence replacement: old, grown-in fence cleared so it can be torn out and replaced
  • Repairs: sections opened up so you can find and fix the damage
  • Cattle and horse pasture: keeping lines clear so trees don't fall on wire
  • Survey lines: opened so a surveyor can walk and mark your boundary

Old wire and fence

Old barbed wire buried in the brush is dangerous for people and equipment. If there's old fence you want gone, we can clear around it so it can be pulled, and the debris can be hauled off. If it's a fence you're keeping, we'll work along it carefully. Let us know which is which during the site visit.

Know your line

Clearing right on a property line can cause trouble with a neighbor if the line isn't where you think it is. If you're not sure where yours is, a survey is worth it, especially before new fence goes up. We clear what you show us and stay on your side.

FAQ

Common questions

How wide of a path do you clear along a fence?

Usually 6 to 15 feet on your side, depending on what the fence crew or you need. We'll agree on the width before we start.

Can you clear the neighbor's side too?

Only with the neighbor's permission. We stay on your property unless the adjoining owner has agreed to it.

Do you build fence too?

Our focus is clearing. If you need fence built after we clear, we can point you to fence contractors in the area.

Will clearing damage my existing fence?

We work carefully around fence you're keeping. Trees grown into the wire sometimes have to be cut in a way that leaves a piece in the fence. We'll show you anything like that.
