Spartan Land Works
Land Clearing in North Mississippi
Overgrown acreage turned back into land you can walk, use, build on or sell. Brush, briars, cedars and small trees cleared from DeSoto County to Holly Springs.
Get your land back without clear-cutting it
Most land in North Mississippi doesn't need a bulldozer. It needs the junk taken out: the privet, sweetgum saplings, cedars, blackberry briars and vines that move in the moment a field or wood line stops getting mowed. Spartan Land Works clears that growth with a compact track loader running a heavy-duty brush cutter, then uses a grapple to pile, load or move whatever's left.
The result is open, usable ground with the good trees still standing. You decide what stays. We walk the property with you first and mark the oaks, pecans or shade trees you want to keep.

What our land clearing covers
- Brush and undergrowth such as privet, briars, vines, honeysuckle and kudzu edges
- Saplings and small trees up to about 8 inches across, including cedar, sweetgum and hackberry
- Wood line push-back to reclaim pasture or yard that the woods have crept into
- Selective thinning under bigger trees so you can see through and walk the property
- Grapple work to pile, stack or load cut material
- Trails, firebreaks and access lanes through wooded acreage
Who calls us
Landowners who've let a few acres go and want them back. Buyers who need to see a piece of land before they close on it. Builders and homeowners getting a homesite ready (see lot and homesite clearing). Hunters who want shooting lanes, food plot edges and trails opened up. Sellers who know a cleaned-up tract shows and sells better than a wall of brush.
Why a track loader instead of a dozer
A dozer pushes everything, including your topsoil, into a pile. A compact track loader with a brush cutter cuts the growth off at the ground and leaves the soil where it is. That matters on the hilly, erosion-prone ground across much of DeSoto, Tate and Marshall Counties. Tracks also spread the machine's weight, so we can work on slopes and softer ground that would rut up under wheels.
Bigger trees and stumps: our brush cutter handles trees up to about 8 inches. Larger trees can be handled as tree removal. Stumps are cut low but not pulled, so if you need a fully grubbed building pad, tell us at the site visit and we'll plan for it.
How pricing works
Every tract is different, so we price after seeing it. Light brush on open ground goes fast; thick cedar and privet on a hillside takes longer. You'll get a written price by the hour or for the whole job, your choice, before any work starts. For a deeper breakdown, read our guide to what land clearing costs in North Mississippi.

Common questions
How much does land clearing cost per acre?
It depends on how thick the growth is, how big the trees are, the terrain, and what you want done with the debris. We give you a written price after a free site visit, by the hour or for the whole job.
Will you leave the trees I want to keep?
Yes. We clear selectively. During the site visit we walk the property with you and mark the trees that stay.
What happens to the brush after it's cut?
Lighter material is cut and shredded and left on the ground to break down. Larger material can be grapple-piled for you to burn, moved to a spot you choose, or loaded and hauled off for an added cost.
Do you pull stumps?
Trees are cut low to the ground but the stumps stay. If you need stumps removed for a building pad or driveway, tell us up front so we can plan for it.
How many acres can you clear in a day?
It varies widely. A few acres of light brush can go in a day, while thick cedar or privet on slopes is much slower. We'll give you a realistic timeline with your estimate.
